Dear Principal,

In just the time that it takes you to read this letter, school children throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties will encounter experiences that will make it impossible for them to learn in school and in some cases, even feel safe.

Child abuse, school violence, dropping out, drug use, being threatened or injured, teenage pregnancy, parent/child conflict, divorce,  running away, attempting suicide -- our kids today are facing so much more than we could have even imagined in our school days.

We all want to believe that these things don't happen -- not in our communities, not in our schools.  But statistics show that it does -- everyday, every hour, every minute, in every kind of community.

Outreach Concern provides urgently needed counseling services to school children throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties.  Last year we spent an estimated 50,000 hours helping children in grades K - 12 cope with serious life crises affecting them and their families.  Since our inception, Outreach Concern has provided more than 500,000 counseling sessions on the campuses of our contracted schools.

Outreach Concern has conducted a study that proves that assessment and intervention through counseling betters the academic success of the children with whom we work.  You may request a copy of this study so that you can see first hand what we know --- counseling works.

The issue is no longer whether or not your school needs a counseling program, but whether or not the current program you're utilizing adequately meets the needs of your student population.  Can it provide the services you need with consistency, quality, and concern for education?
